Marc Davis and his label Black Pegasus link up with his big homie T.R. Love from legendary
UltraMagnetic MC's and form the Ultra 7 Series on Black Pegasus!!

T.R. Love the MC/DJ/Producer rat pack, known for collecting rare LP's, 45's, cassettes, VHS and reel to reel tapes digs deep in the Ultra Lab vaults and unearths a 1988 golden age gem by his crew
UltraMagnetic!! "Aint It Good To You", the unreleased Paul C.(McKasty) mix and edit!! That's right a different mix so dope you can't believe it didn't make the final Critical Beatdown cut!

Just like the album version it uses the Manzel "Jump Street" sample, but this time around TR and Ced-Gee chopped and programed it slightly different on the SP1200. The track is sped up a bit faster and adds more of the soulful parts from the break beat. As incredible as the programming is the real power of this record comes from late all-star engineer/producer Paul C.'s mixing and editing of this Holy Grail.

Once again Paul C.'s innovative 808 bass sounds are still damaging ear canals while he manages to add a slight twist with Ultra incredible drops (different from the album) that are perfectly timed and bring out the best of Kool Keith and Ced-Gee's scientific flow!! When you hear the verse where Kool Keith lyrically insults the great Rakim with "I see your balls of clay with x vision/I'm a scientist your satelights are weak/they get dimmer every time I speak" you really feel the wrath of Ultra!! The Sweet vocal side and the triple O.G. instrumental makes this unseen release a true Ultra sure shot!

T.R.Love, Marc Davis and Pritt Kalsi dropping science on the release!!

AND WHAT IT MEANT TO DJ SCOTT LA ROCK

It's been 25 years since the tragic death of Scott "LA Rock" Sterling, founder of the legendary hip hop group Boogie Down Productions. Scott La Rock, along with Krs-One and D-Nice made up the Bronx group, while the primary musical production was handled by UltraMagnetic MC's Ced-Gee. This combination kicked in the door of hip hop's golden age with the classic album "Criminal Minded".

The Story of Scott "La Rock" Sterling is a true story of art turned tragic, and still to this day it's reincarnating it's art through timeless music.

SOUL IN STOCKHOLM

S

During Marc Davis'Eclectic Soul European DJ tour one of his favorite cities he played was Stockholm, Sweden @ The LightHouse. The LightHouse is a soulful underground all vinyl party ran by DJ Julian Wareing and friends. Julian and Marc formed a tight friendship after meeting @ Snickars Record shop in Stockholm while Marc was over playing @ The Berns Club in 2009. Marc was very impressed by Julian's knowledge of records and the Chicago DJ scene and specifically Ron Hardy. Julian decided to make his musical pilgrimage to Chicago the following summer for Marc's Bangin In The Park out door festival. Julian was introduced to legendary DJ's and vinyl collectors Sadar Bahar, Lee Collins, DJ Service, Buddy Finch, Flavio Crawford, and DJ Bullit. Julian also had the opportunity to DJ @ Unified Records CEO's Brian Reaves' disco Mondays @ lava Lounge with Soul In The Hole's Russoul Dixon. Julian beat the box and was immediatly accepted amongst the Chicago heavy weight collectors and DJ underground.

This experience motivated Julian a step further by taking the Chicago flavor back to Sweden and mixing it up with the Stockholm scene @ an underground loft space called The Lighthouse! Here are the funky results with Julian and Marc both beating heat!!
